How to use compression waste fittings

Although solvent weld waste fittings are the plumbers choice for professional waste installations compression waste fittings have their place.  There are several benefits of compression waste fittings that will appeal to the diy’er

 

• Compression waste fittings are easy to install and very forgiving
• Compression waste fittings are fully demountable and reusable
• Compression waste fittings can be installed in wet conditions

 

For this how to guide we will be using a 40mm McAlpine compression coupler.  We are using the McAlpine brand because they are simply the best quality by far.  Yes they are more expensive but if installed correctly seal first time and will give years and years of service.

These compression waste fittings are easy to install and can be done so in 5 easy steps.

 

1. Chamfer inside of Pipe (if required) to remove any burr
2. Remove Nut, reinforcing disc and Rubber Washer from Fitting
3. Push Nut,reinforcing disc and Rubber Washer over Pipe
4. Push Pipe into Socket
5. Connect Nut and hand tighten
